2023 Camp Petosega Events

Annual Kids Ice Fishing Day (12pm – 4pm) – 2/18/23 – CANCELLED: Emmet County Parks and Recreation is partnering with volunteers from Friends of Oden Fish Hatchery Visitor Center to host our annual free Ice Fishing Day for Kids at Camp Pet-o-se-ga located in Alanson. The event takes place Saturday, Feb. 18, from noon to 4 PM and coincides with the Michigan Department of National Resource’s free fishing weekend. Kids in kindergarten through eighth grade, along with their parents or guardians are welcome to join us for an afternoon of ice fishing and fun.  We supply the fishing gear and bait while parents supply the warmly dressed kids. Please note that parents must remain with their children throughout the event. Volunteers from Friends of the Oden Fish Hatchery Visitor Center will be helping kids with baiting and fishing. Participants will be able to get warmed up in the campground Rec Hall with free hot dogs, snacks and hot cocoa. If the outside temperature (including wind chill factor) is below zero degrees, the event will be held on Sunday, Feb. 19.

Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast (9am-11am) – 6/17/23: Each year, Emmet County Parks and Recreation invites the public and campers to a free pancake and sausage breakfast for Father’s Day at Camp Pet-O-Se-Ga. Breakfast will run 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 17.  There is no charge for the breakfast. Campers are invited to enjoy breakfast at Camp Petosega’s Rec Hall.

Petosega 5K Fun Run (10am-12pm) – 7/1/23: Come join Emmet County Parks and Recreation for a 5K Run and walk for all ages which will benefit our local parks and facilities. This will take place at Camp Petosega in Alanson, Michigan on the cross country trail. Registration fee is $15 and $25 for signing up on the day of the event. Register early to secure a T-shirt while supply lasts.

Fly Fishing Workshop (1pm-3pm)– 7/15/23: Interested in learning how to fly fish? Join Trout Unlimited and our Parks and Recreation staff for an evening workshop at Camp Petosega’s Pavilion. Location may change due to weather. No pre-registration or equipment required.

Halloween Weekends (5pm-9pm) – 10/7/23 and 10/14/23: Reserve your campsite online now and join us for one of our super fun Halloween Weekends on Saturday, October 7, or on Saturday, October 14! Park staff will be giving an award to the Best Decorated Campsite so campers are encouraged to spruce up their sites to get in the Halloween spirit! Trick-or-treating will take place from 5-7 p.m. with vehicle traffic restricted during that time through the campground. Emmet County Parks and Recreation staff will have free hot dogs, chips, and drinks near the campground office followed by a free Haunted Trail open 7-9 p.m. All activities are weather-permitting and the general public is welcome to come out and join in the fun! Did you hear? Camp Pet-o-sega’s Disc Golf Course is now open!
 
 
 
 
The 18-hole disc golf course features tee pads and multiple basket locations to allow for a variety of playing experiences. Beginner or advanced and everyone in between will enjoy this beautiful course set in a figure eight layout for easy access to the front and back nine holes.
 
The course is open year-round from 7AM – 10PM and is free to play!
 
Hole map and description signs are posted at each hole. Golf rules, course maps, and scorecards are available at the course’s entrance and parking area. Discs available for purchase in the Camp Store, come visit us today!
